To learn the gourmet cooking skill you first have to get your sim's regular cooking skill to level five. Even though you can buy gourmet cooking books, you will not be able to learn the skill until your cooking skill is high enough. The gourmet cooking skill acts in a similar way to the cooking skill, but your sim is able to create fancier dishes, and once you are of a high enough level your dishes will always produce a delicious dish moodlet, making the sims who eat the food happy for four hours. As your sim improves the gourmet cooking skill they will acquire the gourmand moodlet whenever they cook which puts them into an inspired mood. Starting Learning the Gourmet Cooking Skill in The Sims 4

Once your sim reaches level five of the cooking skill, the gourmet cooking skill is unlocked. You will find that when you next click on the fridge or the stove to start cooking, you will find that you have an additional option to 'cook a gourmet meal' which opens up a menu much like the cooking menu, but with different fancier recipes.

You will also find that when you select 'have/serve breakfast/brunch/lunch/dinner' you will also have access to some gourmet recipes. See our table below for a complete list of all gourmet recipes.

To start learning the gourmet cooking skill simply select a gourmet recipe and start cooking. As with the cooking skill, you will learn the gourmet cooking skill at a much faster rate if your sim is inspired or very inspired. It is worthwhile getting your sim inspired every time they cook a gourmet meal as they are much more likely to produce dishes of a higher quality.

You can also learn the gourmet cooking skill by purchasing a gourmet cooking skill book via the bookcase or computer. It is expensive so it is more effective to learn the gourmet cooking skill by actually cooking.

Sims 4 Gourmet Cooking Skill Levels

As your sim improves their gourmet cooking skill, they will unlock the following abilities:

• Level 1 – New Recipes
• Level 2 – New Recipes
• Level 3 – New Recipes and the fancy spices trick move (animation)
• Level 4 – New Recipes and food eaten will always produce the delicious dish moodlet
• Level 5 – New Recipes and the food slice trick move (animation)
• Level 6 – New Recipes
• Level 7 – New Recipes
• Level 8 – New Recipes and the ability to Research Advanced Cooking Techniques at the computer
• Level 9 – New Recipes and the social interaction 'Share Cooking Secrets'
• Level 10 – New Recipes and the ability to garnish dishes

Sims 4 Gourmet Cooking Moodlets

From level four of the gourmet cooking skill, any food you produce will give the sims that eat it the delicious dish moodlet, which will give any sims that eat the food a +1 happy buff for four hours

These do not give your sim any special abilities, but mean that your sim has new animations when cooking, and make it a bit more interesting to watch whilst playing

Share Cooking Secrets

This social interaction will never fail, and it will improve the gourmet cooking skill of the sim which you are talking to, if their cooking skill is high enough to learn gourmet cooking. Otherwise it will just boost the friendship bar.

Garnish

This gives your sim the ability to raise the quality of a meal that has already been cooked. If your sim with level 10 gourmet cooking skill cooks a meal, it is highly unlikely that they will produce a meal that is not excellent, but they are able to garnish other sims dishes. This means that your gourmet sim will always eat well.

Sims 4 Gourmet Cooking Skill Recipes

Your sim will unlock the following recipes at the following levels. We have included the price to make a single portion, family size serving (four portions), and party size serving (eight portions) as well as the ingredients you can add. Ingredients are fresh fruit and vegetables you have harvested from home grown or wild plants, or fish you have caught. Adding ingredients will reduce the cost of cooking the meal (by 25%) and increase the quality if they are of high enough level. Type will tell you whether they will come up under the breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner option or whether they are considered desserts (useful for dinner party events).

Making Ambrosia in the Sims 4

To make Ambrosia your sim will also need to have level 10 in the cooking skill as well as the gourmet cooking skill, otherwise the option to make ambrosia will not appear. Your sim will also need to have all the ingredients required to make it in their inventory or in the fridge. Your sim does not have to gather the ingredients themselves – other household members could – but they just need to be available for cooking.

Gathering The Ingredients

Angel Fish

The angel fish can be caught in any river in Willow Creek, Newcrest or Windenburg, and the two ponds near the Caliente house in Oasis Springs. The angelfish is an uncommon catch so it may take some time to catch it. See the fishing guide for more details

Death Flower

The death flower can be made from grafting plants together so your sim will need to have at least level five in the gardening skill to be able to unlock the grafting ability. You will need to graft the following plants together:

1. Take a cutting from a cherry tree and graft it onto an apple tree to create a pomegranate. Alternatively you may be able to catch a pomegranate at some locations.
2. Take a cutting from a Lily and graft it onto a snapdragon to get an orchid
3. Take a cutting from your pomegranate and graft it onto the orchid to get a deathflower.

Potion of Youth

Sims 4 Charisma Skill Cheat

Potions of Youth can be bought with 1,500 satisfaction points from the rewards store (Press G for the shortcut to open). To get enough satisfaction points work on completing aspirations or fulfilling your sim's whims until they can afford it.

Bringing a Ghost Back to Life with Ambrosia in The Sims 4

Once you have all the ingredients, as long as your sim has maxed both the cooking and gourmet cooking skill, you should be able to cook the ambrosia from the gourmet cooking menu.

To get a ghost to eat the ambrosia you will first have to befriend them and then ask them to move into your household. Once they have moved in you will be able to control them and bring them back to life.

If a living sim eats ambrosia they will go back to the beginning of the current stage of life – just like drinking a potion of youth on its own. So it is probably not worth eating ambrosia but saving it up for bringing ghosts back to life.
